Breeding Achievements

Breeding:

The Odisha Bovine Breeding Policy, 2015 has been notified by the State Government intending to improve socio economic condition of people through genetic up-gradation of cattle and buffaloes through systematic Bovine Breeding.

Odisha is having a good livestock potential, where most of the animals are indigenous. 14.24 lakh Artificial Insemination (A.I.) in bovines have been achieved during the year 2017-18. Steps have been taken to make all the departmental  centers to AI compatible and static AI centers with mobile facility in order to provide breeding services at the doorstep of farmers.

Trust is being given on doubling the income of dairy farmers within next 5 years. In order to increase the income of the farmers the productivity of livestock has to be increased. Under RGM, it is planned to cover 100% of bovine breedable population under organized breeding with special focus on genetic up-gradation of indigenous non-descript bovines.

Step have been taken to provide AI services at the departmental LAC & VDs and to provide Mobile AI facilities with the existing AI centers in order to provide breeding services at the doorstep of farmers.
